About Life's Passages

Life’s Passage was birthed in the heart of therapist, Sharie L. Neal, who since childhood dreamed
of helping people. Growing up, she observed physical, mental, and financial atrocities of
individuals, families, and communities. Prior to adolescence and through young adulthood, she
personally experienced trauma (divorce and non-parental mental, emotional, and physical
abuse–threatened by a student with a firearm and assaulted by a college roommate). At an early
age, Sharie recalls the inability to think and process, feeling disconnected, and anxious but not
understanding the implication of her life experiences. Through her Christian faith, counseling, and counseling training, mental, emotional, and physical homeostasis returned and she was persuaded that helping others through trauma-informed care was a part of her life calling and purpose.

Life’s Passages Approach to Counseling is . . .

HOLISTIC

While exploring the root cause of the client’s presentation problem, we also observe and
address how it is impacting the client mentally (from negative self-messages to depression and
dissociation), emotionally (anxiety, triggers, and hyper or hypo-arousal), physically (insomnia,
low or increased appetite, weight loss, pain, and medical state), socially (interpersonal
interactions or the lack of), spiritually (belief system, hope, strengths, and support system), and
behaviorally (avoidant, isolation, withdrawn or medicating pain with risk behaviors).

EMPOWERMENT

Our goal is not to keep you in a perpetual state of counseling but rather equip and set you on a path to becoming your best self. Through education, identifying client strengths, building courage for self-confrontation, and practical tools for change, we aim to empower you to take those small and increasing large steps to realize your value, personal potential, and treatment goals.

CARE AND SAFETY

“And though one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken, Ecclesiastes 4:12 (AMP).” Our belief about the treatment process is not isolated to gathering data and providing healthy perspectives and solutions but cultivating a trusting relationship. Through prayer, unconditional positive regard, empathetic listening, and learned and practiced skills, each therapist aims to come along side and partner with you for the success of the journey that brought you to Life’s Passages.
